Hungarian Fantail
The Hungarian Fantail is a Hungarian ornamental pigeon selected for a raised, spread tail and showy carriage. It belongs to the fantail group, where the tail fan, body balance, and posture define the breed more than color or flight ability. Hungarian lines may differ from Indian, American, or garden fantails in size, stance, and details of head or feathering set by the standard.
Fantails need lofts arranged around tail care. Wide perches, clean floors, uncluttered nest boxes, and regular baths help prevent broken or stained tail feathers. Breeders should pair for an even fan and attractive carriage while keeping fertility, normal mating, and easy movement. Very extreme tail carriage can make practical breeding harder, so a sound bird that rears young reliably is more valuable than one that only looks dramatic in a show pose.
