Ice Pigeon
The ice pigeon is a German color pigeon bred for a pale cold-blue or silvery body shade that gives the breed its name. It belongs to the fancy pigeon tradition, where feather tone, wing pattern, and finish matter more than racing speed or aerial performance. Depending on the standard and country, birds may be clean-legged or feather-footed, and exhibition varieties include white-bar, spangled, and other marked forms. Good birds should look clear and even, not washed out or dirty gray.
Care is close to that of other fancy pigeons, with extra attention to clean loft floors, dry perches, and bathing water because pale plumage shows staining quickly. Breeders select for feather quality, steady body color, and contrast between the ground shade and wing markings. Natural light is useful when comparing stock, since the ice tone can shift in photographs or under artificial bulbs. Buyers should also check fertility, strong feet, and calm handling, not only color.
