Koros Tumbler
The Koros tumbler, often written Körös tumbler when accents are used, is a Hungarian regional pigeon named for the Körös area and river system of the Great Plain. It is part of the Central European tumbler tradition derived from domestic rock dove stock, with selection in local lofts for a handy body, lively temperament, and preferred details of color, head shape, and carriage. It remains a specialist breed rather than a widely traded pet or production pigeon.
In practical keeping, Koros tumblers fit best with fanciers who enjoy maintaining a local strain and can compare birds against a chosen standard. Some lines may retain useful flying ability, while others are kept mostly for exhibition. A dry loft, room for exercise, clean water, grit, and steady feeding are enough for daily care, but breeding decisions take more judgment. Small populations benefit from exchanged stock, patient selection, and attention to parent quality as well as external features.
