Lahore
The Lahore is a large fancy pigeon associated with Lahore in the Punjab region, with a clean white body and colored areas over the head, neck, back, and wings. That arrangement creates the saddle-like pattern that makes the breed easy to recognize in the loft. Lahores are also selected for size, body depth, composed carriage, and often substantial foot feathering. They are exhibition and ornamental pigeons rather than racing or performance birds.
Lahores need roomy nest areas, clean dry floors, and perch arrangements that protect muffs from matting or manure buildup. Breeders pay close attention to pattern boundaries, feather quality, strong legs, fertility, and calm handling. Very large birds still need enough activity to avoid becoming soft, so loft design and feeding should support condition rather than bulk alone. Buyers should compare markings to the standard being used and avoid choosing only the biggest pigeon if feet, balance, or breeding vigor are weak.
