Mixed Breed
Mixed-breed pigeons are domestic pigeons with ancestry from more than one breed, strain, or local loft family. They may show any combination of rock pigeon traits, fancy breed markings, flight pigeon habits, utility size, muffed feet, crests, frills, or ordinary feral-type coloring. Mixed breeding is common in hobby lofts, rescues, urban birds, and practical working groups where function or companionship matters more than a closed standard.
Care depends on the individual bird's body type and history. A short-faced fancy cross may need closer feeding attention, while a lean flying cross may need more exercise and secure orientation. Rescues and owners should record visible traits, behavior, health, and known parentage when available, because mixed-breed pigeons can be excellent birds even when they do not fit a formal show class.
