Mookee
The Mookee is an old Indian fancy pigeon, also spelled Mookie in some sources, bred for upright carriage, neat body shape, and a smoothly arched neck. It is not a large pouter, even though posture is central to its look; the breed's effect comes from balance, carriage, and alert presentation rather than an inflated crop. Color and marking expectations vary by strain and standard, but Mookees are usually kept for appearance rather than heavy utility use.
Mookees benefit from quiet handling and lofts that let them show posture naturally without being crowded by larger breeds. Breeders should select for neck carriage, balance, fertility, and feeding strength together, because rare fancy lines lose value if they become difficult to rear. Clean records are useful when birds come from imported or limited stock. Buyers should ask which standard or strain is being followed and look for a bird that carries itself well while remaining active, healthy, and able to breed normally.
