Moravian Strasser
The Moravian Strasser is a Moravian form of the Strasser utility pigeon, a domestic pigeon type developed from rock pigeons for both squab production and exhibition. Strassers have a broad, deep body, full breast, strong head, and a calm, weighty presence on the show bench. The Moravian strain is associated with Central European fancy-pigeon standards and is usually judged on body substance, balance, clean feathering, and crisp color pattern rather than on flight performance.
Management is closer to other heavy utility pigeons than to racing or high-flying breeds. They need roomy nest boxes, low stable perches, and feeding that supports breeding without making birds overly fat, since excess weight can reduce fertility and parenting success. Good pairs are valued for rearing strong squabs and holding their shape through the season. Prospective keepers should check local standard details, because Strasser names and markings have regional differences across Europe. A useful breeding loft keeps production traits and exhibition type in conversation rather than treating them as separate projects.
