Moravian White-Head
The Moravian white-head is a Czech color pigeon from Moravia, bred from domestic rock pigeons for a sharply contrasting white head against a colored body. It belongs to the European group of exhibition pigeons in which markings, feather condition, and a neat field-pigeon type are more important than racing or tumbling performance. Depending on the standard and line, colored areas may appear in black, blue, red, yellow, checker, bar, or diluted shades, but the clean head marking is the feature that gives the breed its name.
Care is straightforward for keepers used to fancy pigeons: dry loft, regular bath water, mineral grit, and enough exercise to keep birds firm and active. Breeding is more demanding than basic maintenance because a white-headed pattern with even borders can be difficult to reproduce consistently. Many birds suitable for a heritage loft may not meet show expectations, so buyers should look closely at eye, beak, head color, and the exact boundary between white and colored plumage before selecting stock.
