Morillero Cropper
The Morillero cropper is a Spanish pouter or cropper pigeon, usually discussed under the Spanish word buchón for pigeons that display an inflated crop. The name is linked with morrillo, the thickened neck or throat area that gives this type its characteristic look. Like other regional Spanish croppers, it descends from domestic rock pigeons and has been selected for carriage, courtship display, and an expressive crop rather than for long-distance racing.
Keepers often manage Morillero croppers as working fancy pigeons, giving them safe rooftop or loft exercise while controlling pairing and territory. Selection should favor birds that can inflate and display without crop weakness, breathing difficulty, or poor feeding. Because spellings and local standards vary, especially when Morillero and Morrillero are used in different sources, anyone buying stock should ask which club standard the breeder follows and whether the birds are flown, shown, or kept mainly for preservation.
