Moscat
Moscat is an obscure domestic pigeon breed name found in fancy-pigeon listings, and details about its origin and standard are not as widely published as those for major show or racing breeds. The name may be encountered as a local or translated label rather than a globally standardized breed. It should still be understood as a variety of the domestic rock pigeon, Columba livia, not as a separate wild species or a simple color term.
When dealing with Moscat pigeons, practical identification matters more than the name alone. A buyer or registrar should ask for the breeder's standard, country of origin, photos of mature birds, and information on whether the strain is kept for flight, exhibition, or local heritage. Daily care follows normal fancy-pigeon practice: a dry loft, clean water, grit, bathing, and a grain mix adjusted for breeding and moult. Rare labels also deserve careful record keeping so the strain does not become mixed beyond recognition.
