Nuremberg Swallow Pigeon
Nuremberg swallow pigeon is a regional German color pigeon named for a swallow-style pattern rather than for any wild swallow connection. In fancy pigeons, swallow markings usually place color on the wings while leaving much of the body lighter, often with additional head, crest, or leg-feather details depending on the exact variety. The Nuremberg association ties it to one of Germany's older centers of organized pigeon breeding.
This is a breed for fanciers who enjoy precise markings and traditional regional types. Selection centers on clean wing color, balanced body shape, and any crest or feathering requirements in the standard being used. Because color pigeons can lose their crisp look through broken markings or stained feathers, keepers pay close attention to dry bedding, bathing, and pairing decisions that maintain the intended swallow pattern.
