Old Fashioned Oriental Frill
Old Fashioned Oriental Frill is a decorative pigeon descended from the Oriental frill tradition, often linked historically with Turkish and eastern Mediterranean fancy breeding. It has a short beak, rounded head, breast frill, and carefully marked color forms such as satinettes and blondinettes in many show circles. The old fashioned form is valued for retaining a more practical, less extreme type than some heavily shortened modern frills.
Breeders keep this pigeon for exhibition, color work, and preservation of a demanding traditional pattern. The challenge is to maintain the soft frill, clear shield or body markings, and expressive head while keeping birds able to feed and rear their young. Clean lofts, thoughtful pair records, and careful selection for vitality matter, because ornamental frill traits can become troublesome when pursued without regard for function.
