Polish Lynx
The Polish lynx, or Polski Rys in Polish references, is a substantial fancy and utility pigeon developed in Poland from the domestic rock pigeon, Columba livia. It is not a tumbler type; the appeal is a broad, strong body, active carriage, and a crisply presented color pattern. Blue-bar, black, red, and yellow varieties are commonly listed, and judges tend to value depth of color, clean wing pattern, and even markings.
Many lofts keep Polish lynx pigeons as dual-purpose birds, appreciating their size while still selecting for exhibition finish. They do best with roomy nest areas, sturdy perches, and a diet that supports growth without letting breeding birds become soft. Productive pairs are valuable, so buyers often ask about fertility, squab-rearing ability, and whether the line is bred to a Polish, European, or local exhibition standard.
