Prishtina Roller
The Prishtina roller is a regional performance pigeon associated with Prishtina, Kosovo, and the Balkan rolling-pigeon tradition. Like other domestic pigeon breeds, it descends from Columba livia but has been selected by fanciers for flight style rather than meat or ornament alone. Birds are generally valued for their ability to fly as part of a kit and perform backward rolls in the air, though appearance and preferred colors can vary between local families of birds.
Keeping Prishtina rollers centers on loft discipline and sensible training. Young birds need time to home to the loft before being flown, and over-deep or unstable rolling should be avoided in breeding selections because it can lead to losses. A practical keeper judges the family by consistency, health, orientation, and how the kit works in local weather. As with many Balkan roller strains, written standards may be less widely available than breeder knowledge, so buying from an active flyer is usually more informative than choosing on color alone.
