Silesian Colour-Head
The Silesian colour-head is a regional color pigeon from the Silesian fancy pigeon tradition, named for the contrast between a colored head and the rest of the bird. It belongs with ornamental marking breeds rather than with highflyers, rollers, or pouters. The central point is clean pattern placement: head color should be clear and intentional, while body type, feather quality, and carriage remain consistent with the local standard used by breeders in Poland, Germany, or neighboring pigeon communities.
Breeding color-head pigeons requires patience because markings do not always fall neatly from a good pair. Keepers need to cull by selection, not neglect, choosing birds that combine pattern accuracy with vigor and reliable rearing. Clean lofts are important because white or pale body areas show staining quickly. Buyers should inspect both sides of the head, the line where color meets body, and the bird's health in hand before treating the pattern alone as proof of quality.
