Silesian Cropper
The Silesian cropper is a Central European pouter or cropper associated with Silesia. Its defining feature is the inflated crop, carried as part of an upright, display-oriented stance. Unlike a tumbler or highflyer, the Silesian cropper is not primarily judged by aerial performance; its breed character lies in body length, leg and neck carriage, crop shape, feather condition, and the confident way it presents itself when settled.
Cropper management calls for close attention to body condition. Birds need enough room to strut and pair without damaging feathers, and feeding should support muscle without making the cropper heavy or sluggish. Breeders watch for a crop that inflates evenly and a temperament that is bold but not frantic. Because pouters can be selected into exaggeration, sensible lofts keep fertility, breathing, and chick rearing in the selection plan alongside show outline.
