Single-Crested Priest
The Single-crested Priest is an ornamental pigeon in the Priest family of marked fancy pigeons, distinguished by one crest rather than a smooth head or a more elaborate double-crested form. The name points to a formal, old-fashioned color-pigeon style, where head furnishings, clean markings, and a composed body outline matter more than flight performance. Because Priest varieties can be described differently across clubs, the single crest should be read as a defining feature within a broader marked-breed tradition.
Care is similar to other crested exhibition pigeons, with extra attention to feather condition around the head. The crest should sit cleanly and not interfere with vision, feeding, or normal social behavior. Breeders pair for crest placement, marking clarity, and sound rearing, since a pretty head feature is not enough to sustain a small variety. Before buying, inspect the bird from front, side, and above; uneven crests and hidden feather breaks can be easy to miss in a quick handover.
