South German Blasse
The South German Blasse is a regional German color pigeon, with Blasse referring to a blaze or pale facial marking. It belongs to the South German ornamental color-breed group rather than to the performance families of rollers, highflyers, or homers. The central feature is clean, recognizable marking placement on a sound pigeon body, along with the color and carriage expected by the relevant German or local standard.
Blasse breeding is a pattern breeder's work. A good bird needs more than a visible blaze; the marking should be neat, the feather smooth, and the body neither weak nor coarse. Because facial markings can vary sharply between nestmates, breeders must keep enough young birds to select fairly after molt. Clean feeding areas help protect pale head feathers before shows. Buyers should look at mature examples from the same loft to see whether the blaze is consistent across the family.
