South German Breast
The South German breast is a South German color pigeon named for its breast marking or color emphasis. It is part of the ornamental regional pigeon tradition in which precise markings, color contrast, and a neat body are the work of the breed. Unlike a cropper, the word breast here does not imply an inflated globe; and unlike a tumbler, the bird's public identity is not built on aerial performance.
Managing South German breast pigeons means managing color boundaries as well as health. Breeders need to know where the colored area should start and end under the standard they use, because a bird can be attractive while still being wrongly marked. Pairing should also account for feather quality, fertility, and steady temperament. Buyers should inspect birds in good light, after the juvenile molt when possible, and should ask whether the line is bred for exhibition or kept as a regional fancy without formal showing.
