South German White-Tail
The South German white-tail is a fancy pigeon label for a southern German color breed or variety in which the white tail is the identifying feature. It is not a utility pigeon in the modern sense, but part of a long exhibition culture that values exact distribution of color on a familiar domestic pigeon body. The contrast between the colored body and pale tail gives the bird its name, while other traits such as stance, feather quality, head shape, and color depth still matter in judging.
Breeding South German white-tails is mostly a matter of patience with markings. A pair that looks close to the standard can still produce young with extra white, weak tail definition, or uneven body color. Fanciers keep notes on which pairings hold the tail boundary cleanly and which colors stay sound after molt. The birds need ordinary pigeon housing, but show preparation rewards clean perches, protected tail feathers, and low-stress handling.
