Syrian Coop Tumbler
The Syrian coop tumbler is a regional domestic pigeon from the Syrian and wider Levantine fancy. It is a domestic form of Columba livia and belongs to the tumbler group, not the carrier or pouter families. Birds are associated with compact, active flight and the ability to break into short, controlled aerial tumbles. The English name is not heavily standardized; different lofts may preserve their own type, color preferences, and expectations for kit behavior under the coop tumbler label.
Keepers usually manage this pigeon like other flying tumblers. The loft should be dry and predictable, with clean feed, mineral grit, and bathing water available; young birds are trained in a kit only after they are settled. Because older Middle Eastern strains may survive in small family lofts, a buyer should ask whether a line is still flown or kept mainly for appearance. Selection is best aimed at safe, repeatable tumbling and strong orientation rather than exaggerated rolling that leaves birds vulnerable to injury or hawks.
