Thai Fantail
The Thai fantail is a fantail-type pigeon associated with Thailand and Southeast Asian fancy-pigeon keeping. Like other fantails, it is recognized by a broad, upright tail fan carried behind a compact body, but local lines may differ in posture, tail size, color preference, and show style. The breed sits in the ornamental side of domestic pigeon culture, where balance and clean presentation matter more than flight speed.
Thai fantails need housing that protects their tail feathers. Wide perches, uncluttered nest areas, and dry floors help keep the fan from breaking or staining. Breeders select for tail spread, body carriage, fertility, and calm behavior, since a bird that constantly damages its tail is difficult to exhibit. They are usually not managed as hard-flying pigeons. Owners should handle them gently from underneath rather than grabbing the tail, and buyers should look for birds that can move freely despite the decorative fan.
