Triganino Modena
The Triganino Modena, also called Triganino Modenese, is an Italian domestic pigeon from the Modena area and is closely tied to the history of the better-known Modena fancy pigeon. It is a small, compact bird with a proud stance, rounded body, short neck, and alert carriage. Traditional Italian breeding recognizes a wide range of colors and patterns, including self-colored birds and pied forms often discussed under local terms such as schietti and gazzi. Historically, Triganini were connected with triganieri, keepers who used trained pigeons in competitive flying and trapping traditions.
Today the Triganino Modena is mostly a fancy and exhibition pigeon, though active birds still benefit from room to exercise. The breed rewards careful pairing because body balance, head shape, color pattern, and vigor all matter. A clean loft with moderate perches, regular bathing, mineral grit, and a good pigeon grain mix is usually sufficient, but crowded housing can spoil feather condition and make judging difficult. Buyers should be aware that Italian, European, and local show preferences may not describe every strain in exactly the same way.
