Tunesian Owl Pigeon
The Tunesian owl pigeon, more often spelled Tunisian owl pigeon, is a domestic fancy pigeon associated with Tunisia and the owl or frill group. Owl pigeons have compact bodies, short beaks, rounded heads, and a breast frill of reversed feathers sometimes called a jabot. The Tunisian form is less widely documented than English owls, African owls, and Oriental frills, so descriptions may differ between older lists and modern specialty breeders.
Care is similar to other short-faced fancy pigeons, with extra attention to feeding ability, beak fit, and breeding performance. Some pairs rear their own young well, while very short-beaked birds may need monitoring at hatch and during early feeding. These pigeons do best in a calm, dry loft where feathers stay clean and birds can bathe without chilling. Breeders usually select for a neat frill, balanced head, sound body, and steady temperament rather than exaggerated features that interfere with eating or chick rearing.
