Vienna Long-Faced Tumbler
Developed in and around Vienna, the Vienna long-faced tumbler is an Austrian domestic pigeon breed from the tumbler family and Columba livia stock. Its name separates it from short-faced tumblers: the head and beak are longer, giving a cleaner profile and usually making feeding young less difficult than in extreme short-beaked breeds. Historically connected with flying tumblers, it is now often kept as an exhibition pigeon as well. The breed may appear in several colors and patterns, with type, head length, stance, and feather condition carrying more weight than color alone.
Lofts for Vienna long-faced tumblers can be managed like other active fancy pigeons: dry, well ventilated, and arranged with safe perches and nest sites that do not damage tails or flights. Birds intended for flying need early settling and controlled training; show birds need handling that preserves feather quality and confidence on the judging table. Breeders should avoid exaggerating head or beak traits at the expense of vigor, fertility, and parenting. Checking the standard used by the local club helps prevent confusion with other Vienna tumbler varieties.
