Voorburg Shield Cropper
The Voorburg shield cropper is a Dutch cropper pigeon developed around Voorburg and selected for an inflated globe, upright carriage, and sharply colored wing shields against a lighter body. It belongs to the pouter and cropper side of fancy pigeons, where posture, crop control, outline, and markings carry more weight than speed or endurance. The breed is often noticed for its neat contrast pattern as much as for the full, rounded crop.
Exhibition lofts manage Voorburg shield croppers with attention to feather condition, clean shield markings, and a calm bird that can display without losing balance. The enlarged crop calls for sensible feeding, fresh water, and observation for sour crop or rough handling. Breeders usually pair for type and pattern together, since an impressive globe without clean shield placement will not represent the breed well in the show pen.
