Wessel's Tiger Ornamental Tarantula
Poecilotheria tigrinawesseli
Wessel's tiger ornamental tarantula is an arboreal species from India, patterned in gray, brown, cream and black. A complete dark band beneath the fourth thigh helps distinguish it from P. formosa, but color alone is not a reliable identification. Specialist hobbyists keep it singly with upright bark, a secure retreat, ventilation and water.
Avoid handling: a documented bite caused severe muscle cramps and a transient heart-rhythm disturbance. Females lay eggs in silk sacs. International trade is regulated under CITES Appendix II.
Colors: Wild Type
