Porcelain Roach
Gyna lurida
The porcelain roach is a long-cultured African Gyna kept by enthusiasts and feeder breeders. Adults vary in color and have full wings; the young have striking black-and-white marbling and remain mostly in the substrate. Colonies use sheltered organic substrate, ventilation, a moisture gradient and varied food. Females retain their egg cases and release live young, sometimes in large litters. Adults climb and fly readily, so a tight lid and fine vents are essential.
