Porcellio duboscqui
Porcellio duboscqui
Porcellio duboscqui is a woodlouse from France and Spain maintained in specialist collections. Cultured animals may have a gray-purple center with warmer orange-brown sides. Some lines are sold with the added label troglophila; that trade label is not treated here as a separate species or subspecies. Colonies need decaying leaves and wood, calcium, ventilation and a protected moist retreat alongside drier shelters. Females brood eggs and developing young in a pouch beneath the body, then release live offspring.
