Porcellio expansus
Porcellio expansus
Porcellio expansus is a large Spanish woodlouse kept for its contrasting dark body and broad pale margins. Four large white or yellow markings cross alternating body plates, sometimes appearing divided. It resembles Porcellio succinctus, which has narrower white edging and different rear appendages. Captive colonies need ample shelter, strong ventilation and a moist retreat within a mostly dry enclosure. Females brood eggs and developing young beneath the body before releasing live offspring.
