Porcellio flavocinctus
Porcellio flavocinctus
Porcellio flavocinctus is an Iberian woodlouse recorded in southern Spain and Portugal. Specialist cultures include gray animals with fine pale flecking, rather than the conspicuous yellow pattern its name might suggest. It cannot roll into a ball and retreats beneath cover when disturbed.
Captive colonies use leaf-rich substrate, decaying hardwood, calcium and well-ventilated housing with a moist end and a clear dry retreat. Females brood eggs and developing young in a pouch beneath the body, then release live offspring.
