Porcellio magnificus
Porcellio magnificus
Porcellio magnificus is a large Spanish woodlouse kept by specialist breeders, sometimes under the name magnificent orange isopod. Adults have an orange-toned body and conspicuous rear appendages. It suits an established culture with room, several shelters and strong ventilation. Most of the surface can be dry, but a small protected moist retreat must remain available. Decaying leaves and wood, calcium and modest protein supplements form the captive diet. Females brood and release live young.
