Porcellio succinctus
Porcellio succinctus
Porcellio succinctus is a striking woodlouse from the Murcia region of southeastern Spain. Adults have a dark body with four large white markings on alternating body plates and a narrow pale border. Large males carry elongated rear appendages. Field records come from rocky scrub with sheltered crevices in a semiarid climate. Specialist colonies need dry retreats, leaf litter, calcium and a protected moist area. Females brood developing offspring beneath the body and release live young.
