Porcellionides sexfasciatus
Porcellionides sexfasciatus
Porcellionides sexfasciatus is a fast-moving western Mediterranean woodlouse also recorded from heated greenhouses. Adults have a powdery bloom, lengthwise stripes and a narrow rear section that gives the body a stepped outline. Dark bands at the bases of the legs help distinguish it from similar Porcellionides. Colonies need decaying leaves and wood, ventilated cover and access to sheltered moisture. Females brood developing offspring beneath the body and release live young.
