The Porto Santo wolf spider is a large species from Porto Santo and nearby Ilheu de Ferro in the Madeira archipelago. Large adults have conspicuous yellow-orange hairs on the front legs. A 2022 revision separates it from the similar H. blackwalli of Madeira itself, so retain accurate breeder and locality records. Specialist keepers provide secure ground-level housing with substrate, shelter, water and suitable insects. Avoid handling. Females lay eggs in silk sacs and carry young on their backs.
