Prevost's Squirrel
Callosciurus prevostii
Prevost's squirrel has a striking black back, white side stripe and reddish belly and legs. It is an agile Southeast Asian tree squirrel that eats fruit, seeds and other foods. Zoos keep it in secure arboreal enclosures with branches, shelter and opportunities to forage. Females bear live young in nests. The sharply divided three-color coat is characteristic, though coloring varies across its range. This is a wild squirrel species rather than a domestic variety.
