Panama Blonde Tarantula
Psalmopoeus pulcher
The Panama blonde tarantula is a tree-dwelling species recorded from Panama and Colombia. Adult females have pale tan to beige hairs over the body and legs, with darker hairs toward the rear of the abdomen. Juveniles look darker, so age affects identification. The older name Psalmopoeus rufus belongs to this species. Experienced hobbyists provide a secure, ventilated vertical enclosure with bark hides, substrate and drinking water. Avoid handling this quick spider. Females produce silk egg sacs.
