Kilimanjaro Baboon Tarantula
Pterinochilus chordatus
The Kilimanjaro baboon tarantula is recorded across northeastern and eastern Africa, beyond the mountain suggested by its hobby name. Adults range from gray to black, with pale leg joints and a dark abdominal pattern that may be faint on black individuals. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated enclosure with deep substrate for a silk-lined retreat, shelter and drinking water. It is quick and defensive, so avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
