Robust Barrel Roach
Bantua robusta
The robust barrel roach is a specialist-kept species with striking differences between the sexes. Females are chunky and wingless, becoming smoother and shinier with age; males are slender with very long wings. Colonies use warmth, good ventilation and chunky substrate offering both moist and dry areas. Females release live young. The name was once applied in error to an unrelated African roach, so breeding history matters when obtaining correctly identified stock.
