Roth's Giant Burrowing Roach
Byrsotria rothi
Roth's giant burrowing roach is a large Byrsotria maintained in specialist colonies. Females are broad-bodied with chestnut or dark wings; males vary considerably in size, wing length and color. Colonies need sheltered burrowing space, organic substrate with a moisture gradient and a varied diet that includes fruit. Females retain their egg cases and release live young. Its variable adult appearance overlaps related Byrsotria, so reliable stock records are useful.
