Ryabov's Bug-Eyed Frog
Theloderma ryabovi
Ryabov's bug-eyed frog is known from montane forest in central Vietnam and is bred by zoos and specialist amphibian keepers. Its textured brown, gray and green skin blends into bark and lichens, while large eyes suit its nocturnal habits. Keepers provide humid planted enclosures with cover, suitable water-filled retreats, clean water and varied insects. It lays eggs, and the tadpoles develop in water. Its camouflage differs from the sharp black-and-white pattern of the Malayan pied warted treefrog.
