Bond
The Bond is an Australian dual-purpose sheep developed from Merino and Lincoln influence for large frames, useful carcasses, and a heavy clip of long-stapled wool. It is generally discussed as a robust wool-and-meat breed rather than a finewool specialist, with selection shaped by the mixed farming conditions of southern Australia. Many lines are plain-bodied and suited to commercial flocks that want a balance between fleece income and lamb production.
Practical evaluation of Bond sheep usually starts with wool style, staple length, fleece weight, fertility, and how well the animals hold condition in dry seasons. The breed may appeal to producers who want Merino-related wool without giving up growth and size, but individual flock history matters. Replacement ewes and rams are best compared through measured fleece traits, lamb survival, and adaptation to the farm's rainfall and parasite pressure.
