Çine Çaparı
Çine Çaparı is a local Turkish sheep breed from the Çine area of Aydın in western Anatolia. It is a rare indigenous breed with colored spotting or patterned markings and adaptation to regional grazing. The breed belongs to a practical local sheep tradition where meat, milk, resilience, and survival in a Mediterranean climate may matter more than strict uniformity.
Because Çine Çaparı numbers are limited, conservation context matters. Flocks should document origin, color pattern, lambing performance, heat tolerance, seasonal forage use, and parasite resilience. Buyers and breeders should not treat any spotted sheep as Çine Çaparı without source evidence. Careful selection can preserve both functional farm traits and the visible pattern that makes the breed recognizable. The safest breeding programs avoid casual crossing while still maintaining enough families to protect fertility and vigor.
