Finnsheep
Finnsheep, or Finnish Landrace sheep, are a Finnish northern short-tailed breed associated with prolific lambing and broad usefulness. They are medium-sized, often polled, and may be white or naturally colored depending on registry and line. The fleece can serve handspinning and small farm wool markets, while the ewes are widely used in crossbreeding programs that need fertility and maternal ability.
Their reputation for multiple births is real, but it must be managed rather than simply admired. Finnsheep ewes need nutrition, lambing supervision, and culling discipline so triplets or larger litters remain healthy. The breed is useful in crossbreeding programs, homesteads, and fiber flocks where fertility, milk, temperament, and moderate size are valued. Pedigree flocks often track litter size closely because prolificacy without lamb survival is not progress, and ewe nutrition must match expected lamb numbers before and after lambing.
