Forystufé
Forystufé are Icelandic leader sheep, a distinct Icelandic line selected less for meat or fleece than for flock-leading behavior and weather sense. The name is tied to the role of forystufé animals guiding other sheep, especially in harsh country where movement, gathering, and storm awareness mattered to shepherds.
Keepers value Forystufé for intelligence, alertness, and cultural heritage as much as production. They are still sheep that need sound nutrition, fencing, health care, and careful breeding, but preserving their behavioral traits requires different selection than a standard terminal or wool flock. Temperament and handling history are especially important when placing them. Their placement is best handled by people who appreciate behavior as a breeding trait and can manage intelligent sheep without turning them sour.
