Han
Han sheep are Chinese sheep associated with the broader Han family of local breeds and strains, including lines selected for prolific lambing. The name can be used loosely, so it should not always be read as one uniform breed. Tail type, body size, fleece, and production emphasis may differ depending on whether the animals relate to small-tailed, large-tailed, or other regional Han populations.
For keepers and breeders, the main task is to define the line being discussed. Some Han sheep are valued for reproduction and meat production, while wool is usually a secondary consideration. Buyers should ask about lambing rate, mature ewe size, tail type, climate of origin, and whether the flock has formal breed recognition or is a practical local strain. Management should match the actual animals: prolific ewes need nutrition and lambing support, while regional conservation flocks also need records that preserve source identity.
