Inner Mongolian Wool
Inner Mongolian wool sheep are Chinese steppe sheep selected for wool production in the cold, dry conditions of Inner Mongolia. The label can cover regional wool-oriented lines rather than a single narrowly defined breed in every source. These sheep are associated with open grazing, strong seasonal swings, and a balance between fleece value and survival in harsh pasture systems.
Management depends on protecting wool quality while keeping animals fit through winter and spring lambing. Nutrition, shelter from severe weather, and careful shearing schedules all affect returns. Buyers should ask whether a flock is fine-wool, semi-fine, or more general-purpose, and should look for measured fleece information, reproductive history, and adaptation to extensive grazing.
