Sardi
Sardi is a Moroccan meat sheep breed associated with the western plateaus and central agricultural regions, including Tadla and Beni Meskine types. Many animals have a tall, strong frame, a white body, and dark markings on the head or around the eyes. In Morocco, Sardi rams are highly visible in meat markets and during Eid al-Adha demand, where size, condition, and type are closely watched.
The breed is usually managed in agropastoral systems where grain stubble, range, and seasonal supplementation may all be part of the year. Sardi rams are also used in crossing because of growth and carcass value. Breeders should keep selection grounded in sound legs, body capacity, fertility, and lamb growth rather than choosing only for dramatic festival appearance. Regional type matters, so source records and breeder reputation are important. A good Sardi is a working Moroccan meat sheep adapted to local feed and market expectations.
