Tefrom
Tefrom is a New Zealand composite sheep developed from Texel, East Friesian, and Romney breeding, with the name reflecting that mix. It was designed as a productive maternal type: Texel adds carcass shape, East Friesian contributes milk and prolificacy, and Romney supplies the long-established New Zealand pasture base. Rather than a heritage landrace, it is a practical commercial sheep built for lamb output from grass.
Flocks using Tefrom genetics usually care about ewe fertility, milk, lamb survival, and market lambs that still have good carcass quality. Management should keep mature ewe size, udder soundness, and lambing workload in balance, because prolific sheep can create problems if nutrition and shelter are not matched to litter size. Buyers should ask about recorded performance, local adaptation, and how much of the original composite structure remains in a given flock.
