Zeta Yellow
Zeta Yellow is a Pramenka-type sheep from southern Montenegro, also known as Zetska žuja in regional naming. It is described as a carpet-wool sheep used for both meat and milk, with a brownish-yellow cast on the head and legs that gives the breed its name. The breed belongs to the Balkan tradition of hardy, mixed-purpose sheep adapted to local grazing rather than specialized fine-wool or terminal-sire production.
A Zeta Yellow flock should be managed for fertility, milk for lambs and household use, lamb meat, and durable wool rather than a single product. The sheep need selection for feet, udder quality, and the ability to maintain condition on seasonal forage. Because the breed is regionally specific and not common internationally, conservation-minded records are valuable. Buyers should confirm Montenegrin or Balkan source history and avoid confusing it with any yellow-faced crossbred sheep.
